Original member of the Best Damn Sports Show Period's cast Color Analyst for Fox's NFL This Morning
After an appearance on Fox-TV's pre-game show in September 1997, New York Times columnist Richard Sandomir wrote the following, comparing Deacon to television's crop of sports commentators:
"Would you like to talk football in your den with one of these analysts, or have him do
your taxes? Too bad no network has snapped up Deacon Jones, the
loquacious, sack artist emeritus, who created devilish quotable mirth Sunday as a guest on Fox's pre-game show, upstaging Dick Butkus..."

Throughout the years, Deacon has appeared as an actor in two full-length movies and in several television shows. A few of these shows are as follows:

Deacon's familiarity and knowledge of football, as well as his fans, are not
limited to NFL football. For three years, from 1991-1994, he moved to Calgary,
Alberta, Canada, as part owner of the Calgary Stampeders. In that capacity he
acted as consultant and ambassador to the Stampeders and to the CFL, appearing
on all sports programming and promoting the league, as well as its expansion
into the States and its alignment with the NFL.
