Reilly Kawasaki
Born and raised in Downingtown, PA, Reilly enlisted in the United States Navy at 17. He spent the next four years sailing across the Pacific Ocean and journaling nightly aboard a Wasp-class Amphibious Assault ship with 1000 other sailors and a compliment of 2000 Marines. In his cramped, swaying bunk, Kawasaki found solace in the rhythm of handwritten cursive.
Years later, the hypnotic dance of letter after letter would call once more when Nick Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. As a lifelong Eagles diehard and general fan of the sport, Kawasaki sought to create refined and thought-provoking Super Bowl artwork for his own home. Upon release it wasn’t one week before NBC Sports Philadelphia wrote a story about the print, leading to a complete sell out of its first edition overnight.
Today, Reilly Kawasaki and his Detention Art have been featured on the Kelly Clarkson Show and at dozens of conventions and festivals including San Diego Comic Con and the Hampton Fine Art Fair. His artwork hangs in many private galleries including those of legendary athletes, team owners, announcers, and coaches.
